DVA434 - Software Testing, 7.5 credits (5.0 "old credits")


The course will provide participants with an understanding of fundamental problems, practical methods and tools for systematic software testing.

Learning outcomes

After the course, participants are expected to:

  1. understand the basic objectives and challenges in software testing,
  2. have knowledge and experience in applying basic test design techniques,
  3. have the knowledge and experience of static and dynamic analysis, and
  4. have a limited knowledge in state-of-the-art in software testing.

Course content

The course covers the following areas:

  1. Code, integration and system testing, and their basic objectives and problems,
  2. Test processes (including process models, standards and test levels),
  3. Different metrics for quality measurement,
  4. Test Design Techniques (for example, coverage-based techniques, equivalence partitioning and model-based testing) and
  5. Static and dynamic analysis.

The course is divided into five modules:

  1. Introduction to Software testing
  2. Testing at the unit level
  3. Testing the integration level
  4. Static and dynamic analysis
  5. Advanced test design

Flexible teaching supplemented by laboratory work and seminars.
